1 Indirect question
Косвенный вопрос.↑ Question1) Косвенный вопрос - это вопрос, переданный в косвенной (непрямой) речи. Все изменения, которым подвергается предложение в непрямой речи, происходят также и в косвенном вопросе (подробнее см. Indirect speech, 2,3).2) В косвенном вопросе, в отличие от прямого вопроса, не происходит инверсии, то есть порядок слов такой же, как в обычном повествовательном предложении (сказуемое следует за подлежащим). Ср.: Where are you going? (пр.) — She asked me where I was going (косв.).3) В непрямой речи вопрос выражается придаточным предложением; выбор союза, вводящего придаточное, зависит от типа вопроса.а) Общий вопрос.Общий вопрос ( Yes-No question) в непрямой речи вводится союзами if и whether. Сочетание or not может прибавляться: к союзу whether непосредственно за ним или в конце предложения; к союзу if только в конце предложения.(Так же образуются косвенный альтернативный и расчлененный вопросы (см. Alternative question, Tag question)).(пр.) - He rang the bell, and asked whether his secretary had returned. (косв.) — Он позвонил в звонок и спросил, вернулась ли секретарша.Will the fair unknown come to church?
(пр.) - On Sunday everybody wondered whether or not the fair unknown would come to church. (косв.) — В воскресенье все гадали, придет ли прекрасный незнакомец в церковь.I suppose he has money, hasn't he?
(пр.) - I asked if he had money. (косв.) — Я спросил, есть ли у него деньги.Специальный вопрос ( Wh - question) вводится тем же вопросительным словом, что и соответствующий прямой вопрос.How many other clerks are there upstairs?
(пр.) - I wondered how many other clerks there were up-stairs. (косв.) — Я подумал, сколько еще клерков могло быть наверху.
